3-alarm fire breaks out at U-Haul Self-Storage - KRIS Corpus Christi News

The Corpus Christi Fire Department currently is working to put out a fire at a self-storage facility on the corner of Kostoryz Road and SPID.

Viewer Rose Hernandez sent us this video from a nearby offce building.

A third alarm has been activated to relieve crews that have been working the fire since 2:30 p.m.

Since the fire department believes the premises is vacant, it is now is treating the fire as defensive and is letting it burn itself out while protecting surrounding property.

The fire department received assistance from the city's utility department to open a backhole that allowed the fire to be controlled.

There were no injuries reported.

Fire Chief Richard Rocha said the freeway at South Padre Island Drive and Kostoryz remains closed. He advises the area is still considered an active fire site and should be avoided by the public/
